HONG KONG nlt.1925. Holder of Certificate of Exemption under the Dentistry Ordinance, 1914 [1] to practice dentistry 1925-1940. Private practitioner 1925-40 [2], address: Union Building 1937-40. Dental Board June 18, 1926 - July 1, 1940. Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, interned 1942-45, #421 Mee Chow hotel; Stanley Camp.

m. [s.n.] Saffold (d/o James Philips Saffold and Sarah Eleanor Linthicum). Siblings: 1. Dr. Guy Stark Saffold (Captain, US Army Medical Corps); 2. Ray Philips Saffold.

[1] Certificates of Exemption were issued to dental practitioners who lacked the academic qualifications recognized by the Dental Board (essentially the General Medical Council in UK) to qualify to register. Generally speaking, only qualifications awarded by institutions located on the Britain Isles or in British Overseas Territories were recognized.
[2] The Dental Register 1941 is not available; it is unknown whether or not it actually exists.
